Mark Robins: Vaughan is 'On Fire'

Speaking to the Yorkshire-based press, on loan striker James Vaughan savoured a second career hat-trick at the weekend but humbly paid homage to is strike partner Lee Novak.

Vaughan, who is described as 'The popular on-loan Norwich player` added to his three-goal haul for Crystal Palace against Portsmouth in 2010-11 to this seasons` tally to 13.

"I have to give a huge amount of credit to Lee," said the 24-year-old.

"He put two on a plate for me and created another couple of chances I probably should have put away.

"He was a dream to play with. He worked really hard and did really well.

"It was unfortunate he couldn`t get himself a goal.

"Lee is a great lad and a great player. Everyone knows how hard he works every game.

"I was desperate to get him a goal - now we`ll have to do it against Barnsley on Saturday!"

"This hat-trick was definitely a very important one for us," added Vaughan.

"As a striker you enjoy every goal and I`m just glad they went in.

"Their keeper made two great saves off me, but thankfully he couldn`t keep those three out, and we`ve got a great victory."

His manager, former City striker Mark Robins was clearly happy with Vaughan`s display too, "James got the match ball, and in all fairness, could have had six goals. He was on fire, and their keeper (Tom Heaton) did well to limit him to three."

Vaughan made his 36th appearance of the season at Ashton Gate and continued: "I`ve always thought I would be all right if I could get a run of games."

It would be good to see Vaughan get a few games for us. If the rumours are true, we`re being offered around 750k for him, and at that sort of value we may as well keep him and give him an opportunity.

in that case he should come back for CH to put out the flames !
DRAYTON GREEN
He's not good enough simply. 13 and 9 goals in his two season with Huddersfield and Palace respectively in the Championship. Not exactly brilliant. Also the injury issues. The only one of Lambert's signings when we came up I wasn't happy with.
Ollyrules
There's a lot of truth in what Olly says. 13 goals in 36 appearances in the Championship is hardly ground breaking stuff. At least he's not been so injury stricken as in recent years. With 8.5m RVW on the way it seems we are shopping at a different level now - best let him go. I don't want to seem unkind but Championship may be his level. Having said all that though he couldn't be anyworse than our current forward line...
