City Poised for Double Transfer Swoop

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock has confirmed that a fee has been agreed for the transfer of Scottish International Robert Snodgrass to Norwich City.

A fee up £3m has been agreed, with £1.5m to be paid upfront for Snodgrass who scored 13 goals in the Championship last season. Snodgrass is also the current Leeds United Player of the season.

It was rumoured that Aston Villa were one of a number of other clubs linked with the winger, but Snodgrass seems to have plumped to link up with his old midfield pals Bradley Johnson and Jonny Howson, allowing City to win the race for his signature.

Warnock had been keen to keep the 24 year old fans favourite, but it seems Snodgrass was intent on going.

He said, "Unfortunately, you can`t keep a player if he wants to go. You can do your best, but your hands are tied sometimes, and we`ve tried every way we can to get him to stay, but in the end it wasn`t possible."

It`s pleasing to see the transfer policy that has produced such an amazing turnaround seems to be continuing, and it does make us wonder how much control Paul Lambert had over transfers, given that for the most part he has tried to sign foreign players now he is at Aston Villa. We`ll pick up on this thought at a later date…

Another player set to join the ranks at Carrow Road is Sunderland defender Michael Turner. The 28 year old is in talks with the club after a fee was agreed. Like Snodgrass, Turner was in the final 12 months of his contract and it`s likely that a relatively small fee would have been offered for Turner who is a proven Premier League defender having played in the top flight for both Hull and Sunderland.

Turner was a very popular player at Hull, having won their supporters player of the season trophy three years in a row. Whilst at Hull, he was muted to be close to an England call-up, and was also linked with Liverpool and Manchester City, before eventually joining Sunderland.

Both players would be top quality additions, and suddenly the squad looks much stronger, especially in midfield where it would be hard to find a more talented set of players outside of the top 6.

Both deals look good business and we look forward to them becoming official fairly soon.

I don't understand Warnocks's comment about 'jump ship' and the transfer policy. Can someone explain, please? Is Turner a central defender?

Thanks Savvy. I just realised that it was your comment about the transfer policy and not Warnocks's so it makes sense and totally agree.
