Chris Martin`s Agent Talks Him Up

City striker Chris Martin is the latest player to be linked with a move to the Championship, with Burnley rumoured to be interested.

Burnley are on the lookout for a new striker after top scorer Jay Rodriguez moved to Southampton in the summer, whilst Norwich City are believed to be looking at Burnley midfielder Chris McCann.

Martin`s agent, Matt Kleinman made it clear that his client`s focus is on Norwich City, "There is always a lot of speculation at this time of year. At the moment there is a new manager and Chris is back in pre-season with Norwich. He is looking to prove himself at Norwich and play in the Premier League."

Martin scored an impressive 23 goals in the League One promotion season, and although the standard was poorer, he has always been fairly clinical.

The Beccles-born frontman did not score in four Premier League outings last season, but managed 7 goals in 28 appearances whilst on loan at Crystal Palace.

Kleinman added, "We`re not expecting anything at the moment, although things can always change in a couple of weeks.

"If it materialises that he is not in the manager`s plans then he might look to go out on loan.

"But right now he is in pre-season with Norwich and looking to stay there."

Martin polarises the opinion of City fans, but he did not really have a run in the side last season. He is clearly good enough for the Championship, but in my honest opinion will be lucky to be given another crack at the Premier League under Hughton`s stewardship.
