Smith Agrees One Year Extension

The club have confirmed tonight that 21 year-old former academy player Korey Smith has signed a one year extension to his contract.

Smith has always been a popular player and will be looking to try and force his way back into the squad, after spending much of last season on loan at Barnsley.

Although he did not make a Premier League appearance last term, he was a valuable number of the Championship promotion squad, by making 28 appearances in City's 2010-11 campaign.

The League One title-winning 2009-10 season proved to be his breakthrough season, where as part of the diamond formation he made 40 appearances, scoring four goals.

Smith spoke of the new contract today, 'It's feels good to sign. The last three years have been great for the Club, and I'm looking forward to getting involved with the squad.

'I went to Barnsley on loan last season and really enjoyed it. It was a good experience to work under a different manager, with different players, and in a different environment.'

Smith joins Russell Martin, Andrew Surman and John Ruddy in signing new contracts.
