Movers and Shakers - Goodbye Adam Drury?

It`s fair to say that City have had a much more vast turnaround of players in the last few years than most.

From selling big names in the years following our relegation in 2005, to Glenn Roeder and Bryan Gunn`s over usage of the Championship loan system, to Paul Lambert`s necessary adjustments in guiding the club to two successive promotions and Premier League survival, Colney seems to have been somewhat of a revolving door in recent history.

With only three games left to play at the time of this article, it won`t be long before we have more comings and goings in the team. For Lambert, it could be his toughest summer of management in terms of his decision making.

Surely he`ll have to say goodbye to two or three of his established Canary names who've helped the club achieve such an incredible rise up the divisions. There are players approaching the end of their contracts who may well not see them renewed. Others will almost certainly fall victim because the club is constantly growing and evolving, thus getting left behind.

With the above in mind, I've produced a series of articles taking a look at some of the names rumoured to be up for the chop and posing the question, should the Scot stick or twist?

Adam Drury

Stick - A club legend, hall of famer and incredible servant for the past decade, Drury initially wasn`t the first choice this season with Marc Tierney often being one of the first names on the team sheet at left back, but with Tierney`s injury came Drury`s chance to impress again. He doesn`t look even remotely out of place in the role, still perfectly capable and reliable. His testimonial on May 22nd should be a grand evening, and he deserves a sell out. If he does stay, it will cost the club relatively little and Adam is the epitome of low-maintenance, dutiful professional.

Twist - Tierney will almost definitely be first choice upon his return. At 33, age is a concern. The whole defence in general needs to be looked at, having only achieved two clean sheets all season. Pace has never been his strong point, a trait becoming increasingly vital to possess in the Premier League. Contract nearly up.

Prediction - Sadly, I think it could well be the end for him. I think they`ll announce before the end of the season that his contract wont be renewed, before he gets to say goodbye in a potentially tear-jerking testimonial. I`d be really sad to see him go and if I had my way he`d absolutely stay in the squad and have a job there for life, but I`d expect they`ll look for a talented young player to provide competition for Tierney next term. It`d be interesting to see if he`d retire or perhaps carry on playing elsewhere and/or look into coaching.

If Drury gets any game time over the next 3 games, enjoy it as it could well be his last for the club.
