'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sheepishly steely

There's something a bit odd about drawing against the bottom side and feeling relieved and happy - they're the sort of games you get away from feeling rather sheepish but still oddly pleased.

It's also good to see our steely last minute goal has been re-awoken from its slumber. And what a pen that was. Handball may have been, well let's say generous.

It was another big coup for Lambert though; leave Holt out for the industrious, belter-scoring Morison and Holt comes on to net two in two from the bench.

He's still floundering around a bit too much but that seems to be getting ironed out - just nobody buy him a Best of Kevin Davies DVD for Christmas. He's compounding the critics who told us he might not mix it in the Prem; my man aim for the big man now is to score more than Danny Graham this year.

Interestingly Lambert's been talking about January, the football manager's Christmas. It looks like we could be going continental. Bargains are to be had across that there sea and we're promised we're still a buying club. It's all looking rather rosy.

We've got a manager looking to the future and expecting to bolster the squad in a few months, we've got our plastic Scot rightly back into the international fold and we've got a club churning out results in the big time.

This optimism lark is easy.
