My NCFC: FCBears

Next up in 'My NCFC', where we interview Vital Norwich members and learn a little bit more about our fellow City supporters, is FCBEARS.

How did you become a Canary?
My Dad and three of my uncles support Norwich. They all come from Bungay and when they were young they supported Norwich. My uncle Graham played for Norwich youth at one point. When I was a child I used to go up to Bungay and trips to Norwich City and fell in love with the place. Also I liked the colours.

What/when was your first game?
1st ever Norwich game was against Wimbledon at Selhurst Park in 1991, 0-0 it was. I was 7 years of age if my memory is correct.

How many games do you get to?
Sadly I hardly get to any unlike some guys on the forum. I get to all the London games and until this season at least one home game.

When we were in the premiership I went to 10 games which was a lot for me. I have my reasons for not going to lots of games but it will forever remain my secret.

What is your most memorable moment?
Going up to the Premiership in 2003-04 and also that game against Bayern Munich.

Which (if any) Norwich players have you met?
Lots, Chris Woods used to live near my Dad and we met him - strange guy, very quiet. On the last day of the season when we lost to Fulham all the players and board came over to the fans and I spoke to most of them (Ashton, Hucks, Drury) and had a 2 minute chat with Michael Wynn-Jones. Also spoke to Matthieu Louis-Jean but I thought it was Jurgen Colins whoops.

Me and my Dad also walked into Carrow Road back when I was a wee lad and we bumped into Jeremy Goss. Top bloke he stood and talked to us for a few minutes then walked off. My mate used to play pool with former youth GK Steven Arnold and I met him - bit of a nutter but funny. There have been more.

Who is your favourite current player?
I am not one for favourites but If I have to choose: Holt, Hoolahan, Cody & Lappin (just for his effort and heart).

Who is your favourite all-time player?
Jeremy Goss, Bellamy and Huckerby.

What are your hopes for the coming season?
Well promotion of course but for me I would be happy with mid-table (11th), maybe top half. I wouldn't be really upset if we didn't go up - soooo many years of rubbish I am just happy to have a stable and ambitious club at last.

What is your all time Canary eleven?
I am going on players I saw and were playing during my years do no Martin Peters or Kevin Keelan as I never saw them:

B. Gunn
M. Bowen
A. Drury/J. Polston
M. Mackay
I. Culverhouse
D. Huckerby
J. Goss
D. Gordon/R. Fox
I. Crook
C. Bellamy/I. Roberts
D. Ashton/R. Rosario (as a kid I always had him on subbuteo as my top forward??)

What is the best thing about being a Norwich City supporter?
I love saying I am a Norwich fan especially when other people say Chelsea, Man U etc why I don't know? Also the club is great and the area is nice the colours of yellow and green are very unusual too.

If you could change one thing about the club, what would it be?
The times I have been to Carrow Road the home fans seem to be abit old manish and not as passionate as the away games. Also stop releasing players on free all the time. Oh and no more long ball when all our players are smaller then 5'10.
