SEBASTIEN Bassong joined City on a three-year deal from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee in August 2012, becoming Chris Hughton`s sixth summer 2012 signing.

He began his career with French club FC Metz, where he made 87 appearances before completing a £500,000 move to Newcastle United in the summer of 2008.

The Cameroon international was Player of the Year for the Magpies in the 2008-09 season, making 30 appearances before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in August 2009 for a fee reported to be in the region of £8M.

Bassong made a total of 44 appearances for the Londoners, scoring twice, including Spurs` first-ever UEFA Champions League goal against Young Boys in 2010.

In January 2012 he had a spell at Wolves on loan, making nine appearances for the West Midlands club.

During his first year at Carrow Road, his partnership with Michael Turner provided the foundations for the Canaries' ten-game unbeaten sequence in the Premier League.

In total, he played 35 times, scoring three goals in the space of a fortnight against Everton, Sunderland and Swansea City, with his performances seeing him pick up the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy for Player of the Season in 2012-13.

Bassong was named Team Captain for the 2013-14 season and played 30 times in all competitions.

Starting the 2014-15 campaign on loan at Waford, the former France Under-21 representative featured 11 times for the Hornets before returning to Carrow Road.

He regained his place in the City XI under Alex Neil, and made 21 appearances in the second half of the season to help guide his side to promotion via the play-offs.
