Pen Pic

The most skilful player at the club - Fact.

A wonderful left foot which he uses like a wand. Literally a magician who can pick a pass through the eye of a needle.

Brought to the club for 250k by Glen Roeder from Blackpool and City's longest serving player, Wes has seen two relegations and two promotions. In the League One and Championship seasons he was a major contributor to City's attacking threat and had an almost telepathic connection to Grant Holt.

Playing at the tip of a diamond formation used by Paul Lambert, he signed a contract to keep him at the club until 2015.

All was well until Chris Hughton came in, replacing Lambert and for whatever reason, just didn't play him.

Wes became disgruntled and was the subject of bids from Lambert's Aston Villa in January 2014. The club refused to let him leave prompting Wes to describe City as "a &@!house club" to a Sky reporter in an off air conversation that she promptly tweeted.

It looked to be the end of Hoolahan's love affair with the City faithful until Hughton was sacked and replaced by Neil Adams.

Adams worked his man management magic and persuaded Wes to sign an extension until 2017.

Wesley Hoolahan, Hoolahan, Wesley Hoolahan, la la la la la la la, Wesley Hoolahan etc etc
