Preston North End 1 - Norwich City 0

Deepdale

Saturday 14th February 2009, 3pm

Attendance: 12,033

Yellow Belly's trip to Preston

Our little band of Huddersfield Canaries arrived at a completed and impressive Deepdale and took our seats amongst about 600 other hardy (or foolhardy) fans. Most were very quiet, probably fearing the worst.

We started well. We nearly scored after five seconds and as Crofty ran down the wing it looked like a goal may come.

Fozzy had a great chance when it opened up for him only for the keeper to save well, but as usual, we let the opposition back into it.

Shacks had to clear off the line, Preston hit a post after a mistake by Grounds and inevitably they scored from our now traditional inability to defend a free kick.

We probably shaded the second half, but Gow was ineffectual and Cort could not jump or make any quick movement to create an opening for himself, yet we could have had a penalty when Hoolahan was blatantly shoved in the penalty area. The referee waved no pen a la D'Urso.

Despite Killen, Jamie and Carney coming on it made no difference, and we ended the game on the back foot and slipped to the now inevitable defeat with no goals scored.

From a personal point of view I am now getting well and truly sick of these appalling away displays. This was my 7th away this season and I have now not seen a single win and haven't seen us even SCORE in six of those.

And this is a reflection of how woeful and pathetic our club has become.

How much longer I can justify to myself to go and watch this dross and justify the huge cost involved I do not know, but I love my Club and it is my life's passion.

If only the Club would put the same levels of commitment in as we do, and the players fight for their Club and 'die' for it as we do, then we would be ok. But I see displays of not really caring from all connected at NCFC. It is not good enough and will lead us into oblivion.
