Farke Speaks!

James Maddison and Alex Pritchard inspired Norwich City’s 2-1 Championship fightback against Millwall - but Daniel Farke knows that will only ratchet up the transfer window focus on his deadly duo.

Maddison picked out Tom Trybull to level after Steve Morison’s long range first half strike, before the ex-Coventry City starlet guided home Pritchard’s clever reverse pass.

Farke, however, reiterated after his squad had made it two wins from the last three home games that City are under no pressure to flog their best talent this month.

“I am not concerned,” he said. “I am happy. When your players are talked about with other clubs that tells me we have good players.

“I am not concerned because the board and Stuart Webber made it clear a few weeks ago there is no financial pressure to sell any player.

“For that, we have a really relaxed situation. I am happy to work with players like James and Alex Pritchard. They feel honoured to work in such a crucial role for this club.

“They like to play here. It is quite normal. It is part of the business.

“There might be bigger clubs who are interested but I am used to this. I know there will be some annoying days in January because there will be rumours and I will be asked to comment. Right now, no-one has knocked at my door and said they want to leave.”

Maddison’s seventh goal of a productive campaign capped another fine display.

“I mentioned several times he is a key player in terms of his ability, but also his attitude,” said Farke. “For someone so young he is a leader in his behaviour and performances. He can create special things. He was crucial again but this was about our togetherness.

“It was hard for us.

“After such a first half performance you go into the dressing room and you think, ‘how is the opponent able to score after their first shot on goal from 30 metres.’ Millwall is normally well-organised and difficult to score against.

“You feel what can you say to the lads because we were the better team.

“Somehow we found the right words and the second half was brilliant. We hit the bar, created chances and kept Millwall out. I am really pleased with this win.”
