Well, I was at Bramall Lane today and I have to say, in my opinion, it was a team effort and the players wore their badge on the shirt.

Very sadly after the final whistle, I witnessed some awful scenes with fans injured outside ground- not a pretty scene. Paramedics, ambulances and blood - a bit like a scene from 1970s.

Sminky.
Only just read that in Tucksters article on time wasting.
Were the City fans attacked ?
Hopefully you were clear of it.

Properly great away day that was today - was quietly confident going up, and it turned out to be correct. We defended magnificently, Gunn only had to make one 1 on 1 save first half, otherwise it was all daisy cutter long shots. Farke has really sorted the defence out now.

The referee was awful - Sheff Utd should have had a pen first half, and how on earth he didn't give Maddison a pen I will never know!!!

Players wise

Gunn - solid as ever. Mature beyond his years. Great time wasting too!
Pinto - was good, didn't get forward much tho
Zimmermann and Klose - really strong. Ched Evans barely got a kick all day
Stiepermann - brilliant. Strong tackles, winning headers, bursting forward all day. A MOTM contender
Tettey and Trybull - both really good I thought. Trybull was like a terrier and Tettey was very good at intercepting today
Wildschut - best game I've seen him have. Worked his socks off, great finish for the goal, was a threat.
Maddison - superb. What a player this kid is! Setup the goal with a lovely pass, was constantly winning free kicks and winding them up something good!
Murphy - not his best game today, looked a tad tired. Right decision to take him off tbf
Jerome - worked hard, held the ball up well especially for the goal. Got isolated as we sat deep second half. An unpopular opinion on this forum, but think we'll be ok for the few games Oliveria is out with Jerome personally.

Subs

Husband - he actually played well left wing. Had one good run and potential penalty, he actually took players on!!
Watkins - he looked good as well I thought - powerful runner and took advantage of their tired defence
Hanley - he's a proper scot ain't he. No nonsense!

Support was great - and all the players came over at the end and were giving it the fist pumps! The defenders were loving it!

It may not have been pretty, but it's been forever since I've seen a Norwich side grind out an away win like that, against a very decent Sheffield United side. Easy to see why they had won their last 4, and unbeaten at home in 2017 before today

Lovely stuff - don't care about the cup midweek (would rather we lose so we don't pickup anymore injuries), hopefully can really build some momentum and keep up the clean sheet record!

OTBC!

I don't think it's fair to say we are a premier league team Sven. Of course we all want to be. For one, half of the squad who played in the Prem with us are gone. We have brought in lower league German players which are probably the equivalent of L1 anyway. For two, the team we did have in the Prem was no where near good enough hence the 2 relegation in 3 years. We are owed nothing and the tables don't lie.

Sheff UTD may have come from L1 but they're on form and flying high which is more than what we can say for this season so far. They have a fair bit of Championship experience in the squad which likely equals ours nowadays. They are on a good run so it was definitely a brilliant result. Before the game whilst I hoped for a point I would have given you my right arm for the 3. The clean sheets and nature of the defending are just extra positives. I can't remember the last time we went 3 games with a clean sheet? I wonder what the record is for us.

Great summary Olly of what was a fantastic day and result all round. On a side note regarding Jerome, I do agree with you that he is good at holding the ball up and thats about the only positive thing I can say about him the last 2 years. We will be OK whilst Olvieria is out - on the presumption that the goals will come from elsewhere as I really don't think Jerome will get any. Surely as a striker thats what we should judge him on. He's handy to have for certain games probably like that one yesterday where he can slow it down a bit and hold it up the park but really I'd rather he'd have stuck one in the net and killed it off at 0-2.

Tuesday needs to be a mixture of U23 and guys who don't normally play. Hope Saturdays team turn up again next weekend at Carrow Road.

Totally agree Nathan.
Jer0me is a concern for me. If the only contributing factor is holding up the ball and keeping possession then the role could be filled by a tough CB.

The problem is when a chance comes along he invariable does not hit the target yet alone score and in these days of slow build up play and opposition defending in numbers the chances are usually far and few between.
Having not scored a league goal in mid September is worrying.

Kev. I was hoping to go to Brentford but one of our group is in Florence so will have to make do with RN but I agree we need to play the u 23's and a few older players without current places in first team. Sadly that means Martin and Jer0me ( as only striker available ) and as such not a match for keen young opposition.
I will be very interested in the team selected by DF.

Or , to put it more simply ....Jerome is a loser who should have been swept out of the club with the other losers like Bassong , Dorrans and Whittaker

I think winning on Tuesday is still very important to keep the confidence and momentum going.

I do agree it would be a good idea to play u23 and fringe players.

I predict a Canos goal - I bet DF would have got the best out of him
