£12.5M Accepted.

Daily Telegraph reporter John Percy tweeted on Monday afternoon that the Magpies have been successful with their latest bid after reportedly having bids of £8m and £10m rejected by the Canaries.

Murphy was included in Norwich’s 24-man squad for their Germany tour but is now expected to travel back to the UK to discuss personal terms with Rafa Benitez’s side.

Details of Newcastle’s interest in the 22-year-old emerged last week with Benitez growing frustrated at a lack of transfer activity at St James’ Park this summer.

Boyhood Newcastle fan, Murphy, reportedly informed the Canaries last week that he would like the chance to discuss a move to Newcastle

He was one of the few players to emerge with any credit from last season and also starred at the European Under-21 Championships with England.

Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber made it clear that savings would have to be made this summer but whether the club is willing to part with one of its prized assets remains to be seen.

Jonny Howson and Graham Dorrans have already departed this summer as the club looks to trim its wage bill although it should be said that Norwich have wasted little time making signings themselves. James Husband arrived from Middlesbrough on Tuesday in a £1m deal to become the club’s sixth signing of the summer.

I have no time for a player of my beloved Norwich City who states a wish to play for another team . As Northern has said , thanks for not very much . Take the money , buy the defender and striker we need and move on

Shame he couldn't have given us 1 more season after the development we gave him. Still, as said above if he didn't want to be here then get rid and take the money. We should get another 2 decent players and have a bit left over.

Yep pretty much the same, seeing as we made him what he has become and hes been here since under 12 level, I find it so disrespectful if the things that's been said in the media are true in that he wants to go and supports Newcastle. Always been of the opinion anyone who doesn't want to be playing for the Yellow shirt can do one but even more so when its so called "one of our own".

Would really love it if Josh came out and pledged his future to us. On the positive side, assuming (a big assumption) we are allowed to use that 12.5 million (I hear its upfront) to strengthen further then at least we know we can get the remaining defenders and striker in.

NCFC just posted a video from training today titled "Tuesday Training with Mario!" and looks like Jacob is in it? Then again...could be Josh?! I still can't tell them apart lol. Presume it must be Josh?

I think some of the comments here are harsh on Jacob personally - if I were in his position, I'd do exactly the same as he is doing - ultimately being a footballer is a short career, and you don't get many shots at a payday/PL career - there's no guarantees we make it back there, and he's probably securing the rest of his life doing this.

I hope he flourishes at Toon - for both himself and for us. We'll have a lot of add ons and clauses in this deal that rely on him doing well which will give us extra money.

The short career bucket held water up to the 1980's. People could expect to start a job from leaving education and still be in at retirement. That's long passed, and footballers now own scandalously more money than then.

Murphy is probably a millionaire already, something few on this site will ever be. Ah but the poor dear must secure his future.
