Norwich Will Not Sell Maddison In January

James Maddison will not be sold this January, with the club opting to cash in on Alex Pritchard instead, reports The Mirror

Pritchard has just about left the building and could well be announced as a Huddersfield Town player as early as today but Canary thoughts will now turn to the jewel in the City crown, James Maddison.

Madders has quite simply been the stand out player for Daniel Farke`s underperforming side this season. With six goals and five assists, I`ve seen him widely referred to as "the best midfielder outside the Premier League" in the media and the reality is that he will probably be sold in the summer.

Liverpool, Tottenham, Southampton and Wolves are all linked by The Mirror but make no mistake, every team in the Premier League, Championship and probably quite a few abroad will be aware of the young English playmaker.

In terms of keeping him beyond the summer, City`s chances are slim and none (as Don King once said of Lennox Lewis` chance of a re-match with Oliver McCall "and slim`s just left town" he added).

With the chance of working with Jurgen Klopp or Mauricio Pochettino, you can`t expect the lad to stay at Carrow Road, can you?

The decision to sell Pritchard instead of Maddison this month will now doubt come down to money. Pritchard will have been earning big bucks after that £8.5m transfer to Norfolk, whereas Maddison`s salary will be much more modest after being picked up as a youngster from Coventry - he`ll still be on a good whack compared to you or me but it`ll be more sustainable than Pritchard.

Plus, I`d expect a riot if Norwich sold Maddison and Pritchard in the same window, just before season ticket renewals.

Thing is there would not be a riot. Most fans would sit back, creep around the smiffs and say we will be ok !

Also, I'm sure if a big offer came in Webber would take it.

If a mega offer came in then he’d be gone but unless that happens, I’m hoping they will understand the need to keep him for the rest of the season.

It will take a lot for Maddison to move on. Huge transfer fees, huge wages, and a huge club. Doubt Maddison will demand a move away from the club especially that he is flourishing and playing regularly under Farke. Unlike Pritchard who himself wanted a move away from the club.
