Loan Deal For Norwich Forward Likely

Loan Deal For Norwich Forward Likely

Steven Naismith appears to be edging closer to a loan deal this month, according to BBC Scotland

Naismith hasn`t featured for Norwich since August, initially due to being clattered in training by Grant Hanley and then tactical decisions by Daniel Farke - he hasn`t even made the bench since he`s been fit again.

BBC Scotland understand that two English clubs are vying to take him on loan with this poorly worded sentence in the article:

"Two English clubs have agreed to pay the £10,000 a week of Naismith's salary Norwich are demanding for the former Rangers striker to be loaned out."

That sort of reads to me that Norwich want these clubs to pay £10k of his salary a week but it`s not very well written.

Surely we`re not going to loan him out and keep paying the other £30k he`s earning a week, are we?

This morning`s stories suggesting he`d play for Rangers for free on loan for the rest of the season is also a strange one.

That would surely mean that he`d have to be released from his contract because a contract is obviously binding and in his case will require that City pay him his rumoured £40k per week.

For him to be released from his contract he`d probably want a pay off - all just conjecture, I know, but the club will have to weigh up what is best. In an ideal world, any loan club can pay his whole salary or we reach an agreement to release him, if nobody wants to buy him.

Getting back to the Rangers speculation, I`m not sure he`d be that welcome at Ibrox in any case, as like Lafferty and Whittaker, he was one of those that jumped ship, refusing a new contract when the Glasgow giants went into financial meltdown in 2012 and the fans have long memories.

Various tweets today I saw described him (predictably) as a snake with one even saying "I`d rather sign Scott Brown."

That made me smile,
