Trybull In Norwich Contract Talks

Tom Trybull is in contract talks with Norwich City over an improved deal that will extend his stay at the club reports the EDP

Tom spoke exclusively to the EDP`s Michael Bailey about the contract talks when they spoke after yesterday`s 2-1 win over Millwall, a game that saw Trybull score the equaliser - his first Championship goal.

"I can imagine for sure to stay here," said Trybull, who reiterated his desire to stay at Norwich for the foreseeable future.

"I have got an offer from the club for a new contract, but we`re still keeping in touch about it because it`s not just up to me.

"Everybody knows that I feel very comfortable here and that I can imagine to stay, but it`s not just my decision. My wife and I decide everything together and she is very happy with how it has worked the last few months and right now.

"But the (sporting) manager (Stuart Webber) is also an important part, as is the head coach as well, and they want me to stay and extend my contract. You have to speak about some things and sometimes it takes some time."

Trybull, 24, has made a big impact since arriving on a free transfer in the summer and as soon as he got fit and in the team, his class was there for all to see.

His partnership with Alex Tettey has born the most fruit though and when they play together, they are rarely beaten. He`s going to need a new partner next season if Tettey leaves, perhaps a Godfrey or a Thompson?

I`ve noted a little bit of panic among some fans on social media, thinking that Tom only signed an initial one year deal, not realising that the club holds an option of a further year.

That gives the club (and player) some breathing space and it certainly looks like we`re going to tie up this terrific young midfielder to a longer contract.

I remember Daniel Farke quoting Trybull`s former manager at Werder Bremen (name escapes me) saying that he`d once said he thought that Tom would end up at Barcelona.

That might be a bit of a stretch at the moment (I saw him give the ball away twice on Monday) but he is a tough tackler who clearly enjoys the physical side and then has an eye for a pass too.

He was as important to the City victory over Millwall as Maddison and Pritchard were and I`d already commented before he scored that he was man of the match material.

I actually met him after the Bristol City game, when he was named the sponsors` man of the match, and found him to be a polite and accommodating young man who couldn`t do enough for the fans afterwards.

This is good news indeed.

The club did a terrific job in being Trybull in, erm, for free!!! Physical stronger, passes faster, better balance, and more skilful touches than Jonny Howson who is older and commands a much higher wages. If this is not astute then IDK what is. Hehehehe.
