Fifty Season Ticket Holders To Be Moved From Barclay
More than 50 Norwich City season ticket holders are going to be moved from A block in the Barclay Stand, the club will announce in letters being sent to those affected today.
The letters should drop through letterboxes this morning and appear to be in force from Friday`s game against Brentford. The move is designed to stop Carrow Road`s capacity being cut by the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) after concerns were raised following "complaints of people standing."
The story is being carried this morning by the EDP
The Norwich based local paper appear to have been given early access to ask Managing Director Steve Stone why this is happening and he said "For whatever reason, this season, people have been wanting to stand in that block - which hasn`t been the case in previous seasons.
"Because people have been standing, then younger supporters have not been able to see, so they have been standing on seats or on seat backs and that`s led to complaints to us at the club and to the SAG."
Stone added that after a meeting between the club and the SAG on Monday, this is a counter proposal from the club to stop the capacity of the ground being cut.
He said: "I don`t want to have to re-seat anyone, but it was the lesser of two evils.
"I know it will feel like an injustice for those fans and it`s not an ideal situation, but it has been coming to a head for some time."
This will no doubt cause a lot of upset and annoyance and it will be interesting to see the reaction on Friday. Quite where these 50 fans are going to sit will also be interesting to see.
This looks like it will be a story that runs and runs.
