U18s Norwich 4 - 1 Barnsley

Norwich City`s U18s moves into the next round of the FA Youth Cup with an exciting 4-1 win over Barnsley at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.

Norwich went into the game on a three game unbeaten run while the young Tykes had only won once in their previous seven but it was the visitors that made the running.

The Tykes went into the half time break with a 0-1 lead courtesy of a Matthew Wolfe strike which meant the home side were met by a few choice words from coach, David Wright.

"First half, we were poor. We were way below the standards that this group has set themselves" Wright told

"At half-time we spoke about it and we told the players it was unacceptable. We froze and you can`t do that. You need to rise to the occasion."

The young Canaries came out after that and put in a terrific performance to turn the game completely on its head.

However, it could`ve been a different story had an early second half Barnsley effort been allowed. Tom Clare`s tap in was ruled out for offside but Wright later admitted it was a harsh call after he`d seen a replay.

City then produced an epic comeback courtesy of 17 year old Adam Idah, who joined the club in the summer, and a ten minute hat trick.

Just before the hour mark, City were awarded a penalty after Max Aaron was hauled down and Idah stepped up to take it. The young Irishman`s effort was saved but he reacted quickly to slide home the rebound.

Only a matter of seconds later and City took the lead courtesy of Idah`s strike partner, Anthony Spyrou. Two more goals from Idah sealed the points in a further five minute spell and the game was done.

It was, just like for the first team on Saturday, a game of two halves and City progress into the next round.
