Confirmed: Huckerby Leaves City
Darren Huckerby has confirmed that he has left Norwich City in a statement on his Twitter account @HucksDH6.
"While obviously disappointed to be leaving my role within the academy, it`s something that happens every day in football.
"I`d like to thank all of the staff, coaches, and players I`ve worked with over the years, I hope my professionalism, dedication and will to win rubbed off on a few of them.
"My loyalty and love for NCFC will never change, my association with the club will hopefully last forever. I`d like to wish the first time and academy staff all the best for the rest of the season, starting with three points against Hull on Saturday.
"See you there, Hucks - On the Ball City!"
Huckerby had been working with the club`s academy since returning to the club in 2008 having been let go by Glenn Roeder in a rather acrimonious parting of the ways.
Huckerby had done so much on the pitch for Norwich City that it was a big plus for the fans when news of his return in a coaching capacity was announced. He has coached the club`s U16s, U18s and most recently as assistant to Matt Gill with the U23s. As a player, Huckerby scored 48 goals in 203 appearances for the Canaries.
What it does show is that Stuart Webber has no sentimentality about the club and that he is making decisions on a "what`s best for the club" basis and that, can only be a good thing because this is a results based business, not a sentimental one.
All the best for the future, Hucks.
