Pinto Out For Four Weeks

Pinto Out For Four Weeks

Ivo Pinto will miss the next four weeks with a hamstring strain, Daniel Farke revealed after last night's 2-2 draw with Stevenage.

It's a major blow for City and it looks as though Russell Martin will get the nod to start against Fulham, barring any further new arrivals.

"Yes, Ivo will be four weeks. That is to be honest not good for us because he will miss nearly the whole of pre-season," Farke told the EDP

'It is not good for his physical base. I am not sure if he will be ready for the first game. That is a problem. We have to find a solution. On the right full back position we have no specialist. We will miss him a lot. We can find some solutions though. We played three at the back in this game because there was no right full back.

"Russell trained on Monday for the first time with the team and again this morning but it was too early to bring him back on the pitch. We hope he will be able to take part against Cambridge and he is an obvious option for us in that area of the pitch."

Martin has missed all three pre-season friendliest so far with injury troubles of his own but, assuming he doesn't suffer a setback, should be well up to speed by the time the season opener at Craven Cottage arrives.

I believe they should persevere with Godfrey and Jamal Lewis in the full back roles doing this preseason, yes Godfrey make two errors last night but he is on a steep learning curve and showing complete confidence in him now would do great things for his own belief, somewhere in there is a real emerging quality player, likewise young Lewis has looked really impressive so far, dynamic, physical and intent on taking on players in the last third resulting in both a goal and creating other chances for the team. Both in my opinion have very big futures starting this season under Farke.

Totally agree . Lets not do what happened 2 seasons ago. Play Toffolo most of pre season and then drop him for last big home game pre season game in favour of a more senior but failing player.

Agreed. Godfrey looks to have the ability, not to mention that he's a unit. Lewis, I haven't seen play yet but he sounds as though he's been a revelation. Toffolo and Husband may have an unexpected battle on their hands for the left back shirt.
