Head Of Sports Science Leaves Norwich
Norwich City have announced the departure of Head of Sports Science, Nick Davies this afternoon, in the latest change to the support staff at the club.
Davies leaves with immediate effect after a short statement on Canaries.co.uk
Stuart Webber said: "We`d like to place on record our sincere thanks to Nick, who has done a great job heading up our fitness and sport science department for the past four years and we wish him all the very best for the future."
I know when Webber first arrived, one of the things that he spoke about was the way that the squad was trained and managed fitness wise and that this would change as he didn't consider that the players were actually fit enough.
That's a topic that had been noted by plenty among the Canary nation, with the players often looking out on their feet after 80 minutes, perhaps contributing to the number of late goals that were conceded in the last two seasons.
Davies joined the Canaries in 2013, following Chris Hughton to Norfolk from Birmingham City and it seems as though he will be replaced by someone that presumably, Webber already has in mind and we'll meet in the near future.
To me, this appears to be another example of Stuart Webber's single minded approach to making sure that everything, and it's clear that no stone is being left unturned, is as good as it can be to make the team play to it's optimum best.
That can only be a very good thing.
