Dijks Is The Only Leader At Norwich

No doubt you will have seen (and hopefully read) LeeBoz's article that he was incensed to write after watching the debacle against Fulham yesterday.

He doesn't write too often as he's a busy man but the fact he did, is telling.

On the way home in the car from yesterday's game, as ever, we were listening to Canary Call. I don't know why we put ourselves through it to be honest, but it's just something that you do, isn't it?

A type of player that has been lacking, arguably since Grant Holt left, is a real leader on the field and there was a typical call from a chap pointing this out - again.

I immediately commented to the car (my wife and son) that the only player currently in our ranks that fits the bill is Mitchell Dijks and he's not even our player.

This was echoed 30 seconds later by Cedric Anselin.

I thought LeeBoz's 5/10 score for Dijks yesterday was a little harsh because I consider that along with Pinto and Pritchard, he was one of the three best City players on display in what was an absolute horror show.

The way he tracked Aluko in the first half before putting in a sliding tackle and winning a goal kick was terrific and the way he later fronted the whole Fulham away support was epic.

He prompts and starts attacks and also is a goal threat. His physical presence and competitive aggression is most welcome in the sort of player I like.

When you look at the likes of the highly paid Mulumbu and Lafferty, both of which are out of contract and highly likely to leave in the summer, and their high wages, there is clearly room just there to pay Dijks their equivalent salary.

He is the only player in our squad that will grab the game by the scruff of the neck and he should also be offered the Captaincy.

I know that's tricky as we don't even have a Head Coach yet but he's definitely Captain material and that cloth seems to be pretty rare in this part of the world.

I've written before that signing Dijks will be a tricky thing to pull off and he's hardly had the best introduction in terms of upheaval at the club but all the stops should be pulled out to recruit this man.

Offer him the keys to the City, Mr Webber, just make him an offer he can't refuse.
