U23s Norwich 1 - 0 Everton

Eboue Adams scored a late winner against Everton last night to leave Group D of the Premier League Cup wide open.

Before kick off, Everton had topped the group but Adams' strike means that now, all four teams can qualify. Norwich host bottom placed Wolves at Colney on February 24th with Portsmouth and Everton facing off, three days later. All four teams will be hoping to get into the knockout stage.

City fielded a very young team with only goal keeper, Paul Jones being able to be described as a 'senior player' at 30 years old.

Jones had to make good saves to deny Everton's David Henen and Harry Charsley which Canaries right-back Louis Ramsay firing a shot only just wide of the post.

As the match opened up, Adams followed up a parried free-kick in the 82nd minute to fire the winner home.

U23s coach, Dmitri Halajko spoke after the game and confirmed that this was his last game in charge before taking up a Premier League Team Academy Post, which is widely rumoured to be at Leicester City.

'It was nice to go out on a win. Hopefully the lads can press on both individually and collectively. There are players that can progress their careers.

'The squad's got some big games coming up. If they win the Wolves game they can get through, they've got through to the quarter-finals of the International Cup for the first time.

'It's been going really well in the cup competitions and hopefully they can make one of them count.'

NORWICH CITY: Jones; Ramsay, Efete (c), Odusina, Lewis; Crowe, Adams; Jaiyesimi, Cantwell, Middleton; Ashley-Seal (McGrandles 71). Subs not used: Spyrou, Oxborough (GK), Sambu, Wallis.
