Norwich Injury Update
Neil said that Dorrans won't require surgery, which is a bonus.
Alex Neil gave a fresh update on the knee ligament injury that currently sees Graham Dorrans watching from the sidelines when he spoke to the media at Colney on Friday.
Talking to Canaries.co.uk
Neil said: 'The pleasing thing for Graham is that he's been to see a specialist and he doesn't require surgery, which is good.
'Timeline-wise, we're probably talking the best part of two months. That seems to be where we're heading with it, but to be honest it's probably the best case scenario.'
Louis Thompson, who has been suffering from a problematic pelvic injury is still out but back in light training.
'He's not quite ready yet, but he's making better progress,' Neil said. It feels like a long time, and to be honest, based on the injury it is a long time.
'It's taken longer than we'd hoped but he's out on the grass, he's getting himself moving again. I'm hoping it's not going to be too long.'
Robbie Brady will miss Saturday's Emirates FA Cup third round tie as he serves the second game of his three-match suspension and James Maddison and Harry Toffolo have been with the squad this week but won't figure against The Saints.
Although it seems there will be changes to the team and the league is clearly the club's priority, a win against Southampton would be vital in the 'corner turning' that might be in its early stages after a draw at Brentford and the demolition of Derby over Christmas.
