Announcements expected

Unless McNally & Adams have been quietly colluding across the continent, away from the gawping eyes and ears of every Twitter user and media hack, then today's likely announcements will only be the, already, stale news of one-in, one-out.

RvW will be joining St.Etienne on loan (possibly with a buy-out clause) and O'Neill will be added to the ranks of the Yello' Army on a free.

Good business?

Someone with connections suggested to me that the money from Snoddy's sale had already been spent on Grabban and Lafferty - I wasn't convinced but it gave me the distinct feeling that there won't be any big-money signings this close season (or small-money signings for that matter).

With Fer and Olsson still looking likely to depart our Eastern shores (and, let's not get too over excited by pictures of Leroy's car dotted around our county's roads) it will be left to the core of last season's squad to bring home the points required to get us out of the Championship.

I wonder if last season's summer spending spree which was meant to see us become a mid-table Premier League team has left a very sour taste in the mouth of our board...fingers burnt and all that.

Maybe keeping hold of Hooper, Redmond and Ruddy will be our real summer bonanza. Building a team around a nucleus of quality is definitely how to get out of this league...so with Wes still a cut above the Championship and Grabban grabbin' a few we might just stand a chance.

Your thoughts?

It seems to me so much depends on who stays. If Hooper, Olsson, Ruddy, Redmond and Wes stay AND they can play with consistency we'll be at the very business end of the division. If Tettey stays and Bassong screws his head on and Pilkington stays and stays fit... This season is a very different challenge and mindset to last and I think this is one of the biggest hurdle's for the team, can they take others on, can they break down resolute defences and can they be the team making the running, not defending and countering. Looking forward to finding out! OTBC

RvW was a McNally business purchase. He saw an opportunity to screw Sporting and couldn't throw our money away fast enough. Fer never wanted to be at Norwich, allegedly suffering mild 'depression' after arrival LOL. Bassong has 'issues' that leaving London cured for a while but he's back to his old ways, I wont shed a tear for any of them. Redmond needs to find an end result to his mazy runs or else he is pointless, I'd favour Pilkington or Murphy over him any day. Mind you, I hate the EPL, so very happy back in the Championship. Proper football LOL

Couldn't agree more about the Redmond comments you make. I think he could be a very good played but he really needs to get under a good manager who knows how to nurture young talent as his end product is terrible! I think we will struggle this season to be honest. I can't understand for the live of me why we haven't signed a CB as Bassong is just a joke. I'd be happy with the playoffs. Final thought - Kyle Lafferty, really? Is like signing a less cultured Elmander!

Compleatly agree with having to build the team around quality with the likes if Redmond, ruddy and hooper however, Wes is certainly not cut above the championship and attempting to build a squad around an ageing midfielder will result in tears. Not strengthening a week defence will be our downfall this season once agin I feel.

Ruddy, Martin, Turner, Bennett, Bennett, Olssen, Redmond, Pilkington, Wes, Grabben, Lafferty, O'Neil, Johnson, Howson, Becchio, Hooper. What do they all have in common??? They all have extensive experience of playing championship football!!! I don't think there is the vaguest chance of the squad having the wrong mindset come seasons start. The same applies to the manager and coach who both played at this level.

I think we would all love to see Norwich go out and spending big on players that will get us up. in theory we did that last summer, but it was on players that had no experience at Premier league level, even though we all lorded the arrival of RVW, Hooper and Fer it didn't work. Hughton addressed a problem of not scoring with 3 new strikers that didn't score. Regardless of tactics and any other feelings towards Hughton etc, all our strikers let us and him down in terms of goals. This season, NA has brought in a striker who knows how to score in our league, if Fer goes and O'Neil is the replacement, then on paper it looks a poor exchange, but is it really?? O'Neil knows this league and has won promotion twice, Fer struggled to get up for the lesser teams last season, how will he get up for any of the Championship teams. Everyone is spot on with Redmond though. He needs a bit of maturity and better final ball selection, but I believe he will come good (surely a former winger is the best coach for a winger).

In fairness you're half right, but he only scored 1 less goal than RVW!
