City Bid 10m For McCormack

Earlier today, we brought you the news that City have had a 5m bid for Watford striker, Troy Deeney turned down. That story was courtesy of the EDP so there's probably a lot of truth in it.

Tonight, The Daily Express are reporting that both Norwich and Fulham have bid 10m (yes, you read that correctly) for Leeds' striker, Ross McCormack.

This morning, Sky Sports reported that the player has not gone with his team mates on the Yorkshire club's pre-season tour and also suggested that he had asked to leave.

The figure of 10m for a Championship player seems incredible - it's a massive fee and one that Leeds surely could not resist, especially if the player wants to leave. I know he's under contract but as we all know, money talks.

Have we really bid that sort of money? We didn't even spend that on a player when we were in the Premier League, so I'm guessing it's not that much. However, the interesting thing here is the paper that is reporting it.

The Chief football correspondent at The Express is City fan, Mick Dennis. It seems unlikely to me that Mick would allow such a story to be printed if there was absolutely nothing in it. Doesn't it?

It seems that we are going striker crazy at the moment and aren't linked with much in terms of players, other than expensive strikers. If we buy Deeney or McCormack (or even both) then you'd have to assume another striker or two will be leaving.

Dennis talks kak so expect it is false.

Is 10m a lot in todays transfer money? We spent 8.5m a year ago and got 1 goal. If David Luis is worth 50m then I am probably worth 2m as a footballer. I wonder if Hull's model of buying players proven at the right level is having an affect on Neil's buying strategy!
