Howe: No Talks About Surman - Yet

Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe has been talking over the last couple of days about the season ahead and players that he would like to recruit.

One of the top names on his list is that of Andrew Surman, who spent last season with The Cherries on loan from Norwich City. But Howe revealed that he is yet to be involved in talks over the midfielder.

'Andrew Surman did very, very well for us,' Howe told BBC Radio Solent.

'He is Norwich's player now so it is out of our hands what happens with his future. It is very much in the hands of his club and we respect that.'

Surman previously spent five months on loan at Bournemouth, from Southampton, at the start of the 2005-06 season.

During that stay, he scored six goals in 28 games, although Surman failed to find the back of the net in his season-long loan in 2013-14.

'We were very grateful to Norwich for giving him to us for a year and in the first place so we will certainly see what happens with him. We value him very highly.'

When asked if the club had begun talks with Norwich over a permanent move, Howe replied: 'No'.

By all accounts, Surman did very well for Bournemouth last season and is a good age at 27. He has one year left on his contract and presumably has yet to hear whether he will figure in Neil Adams' plans for next term.

If they offered a good price then we should sell, but I am still 50/50 about surman - he can at least cross the ball, but he is weak and seems to pull out of tough tackles - he came out at end of the season saying Bournemouth have played him in the right way which is the middle of the park and not out wide (that we have played him in apparently)? Still a decent championship player
