Wilshire Could Face Canaries
Norwich City's final Premier League game of the season and certainly for a while, sees Arsenal come to Carrow Road on Sunday.
With Roy Hodgson set to announce his England World Cup squad the following day, it is a nervy time for many players, especially if you've been injured like Jack Wilshire has.
Prior to this latest injury layoff, Wilshire looked a nailed on certainty to be on the plane to Rio, hopefully sitting next to our very own John Ruddy but as is the way with these things, nothing is certain, although injuries to other players may limit Hodgson's choices.
Gunners' manager, Arsene Wenger though, has announced that Wilshire will be in contention for the trip to Norwich, but he hasn't decided yet whether he will play.
Wilshere could be in the squad. He has been out for a while. I haven't decided yet what I will do.
'There is no doubt that Jack will be ready for the World Cup.
'But what is important is the team and that we prepare well as a team for this game.'
With fourth place and FA Cup final appearances in the bag there has been talk that Wenger will rest players for what is effectively a meaningless game. However, he insists that he will do all he can to win the game ahead of next week's cup final.
He said: 'The best way to prepare for a game is to win the game before and that's what we will try to do.
'We want to finish on a high and get 79 points to make it as tight as possible to the top.
'But we will try to be better next season than we were this season.
'We have to continue to develop as a team.'
Meanwhile City will know that there is money at stake for them as each place in the Premier League is worth a sizeable amount of cash. Cardiff are two points behind City and although they too have a tough game as they host Chelsea, it's worth not slipping up again as that extra cash could put petrol in Ricky van Wolfswinkel's Ford Mustang for quite a while...
