Steven Taylor And Scott Dann

Steven Taylor And Scott Dann

The ever reliable Sports Direct News tonight report that Newcastle's central defender, Steven Taylor is a target for Chris Hughton.

The link is obvious and easy to make as it is with virtually any Hughton era Newcastle players. The facts are though that Taylor has made just 4 appearances due to injury and the form of Mike Williamson alongside Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is likely to make it hard for Taylor to get back into the first team.

The report says that with two and a half years left on his contract that City will 'test the water' with a £5.5m bid - most likely this is just pure speculation. Taylor is a local Geordie hero and would be loathe to leave his hometown club, not to mention that he's injury prone.

A much more likely rumour has been tweeted tonight by Ian Abrahams - Talksport's very own Broadcast Moose. He reckons that City will rival Crystal Palace for Blackburn defender, Scott Dann and in my experience he is rarely wrong when he gets a story.
