RvW And Snodgrass Set To Return

Norwich City manager, Chris Hughton has confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Thursday that he is set to welcome back two previously injured players into the squad for the trip to Sunderland.

In what is likely to be a real shot in the arm for the club, Hughton confirmed that both Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Robert Snodgrass are in contention for the trip to The Stadium of light.

RvW has been missing for the last eight games after suffering a troublesome muscular toe injury that just wouldn`t go away. Snodgrass meanwhile, injured his knee in a training session just before the loss at Newcastle last month.

"They are both back in the squad, which is good news. Ricky was very much touch and go last week, but we felt he hadn`t done enough training in the days leading up to that match," Hughton said.

"Robert has come through a full-week`s training and is feeling good, so both he and Ricky are both in contention for Saturday`s game."

This is excellent news, hopefully Snoddy can return to the wing, adding some balance that has been clearly missing and Ricky can play in tandem with Hooper.

I don`t think for a second that RvW will start this game and in fairness to Elmander, he does put in a shift and for work rate alone should retain his place in the side. However, I don`t see Johan as so much of a goal threat and the prospect of RvW playing with Hooper is a very attractive one for the future.
