Toivonen Wants Premier Move
Norwich City summer transfer target, Nils Ola Toivonen has finally announced he is seeking a move away from PSV, preferably as soon as January.
City agreed a £4.8m fee with PSV for the player but Toivonen didn't feel the wages City offered were high enough for him.
He is now rumoured to be a target for both Fulham and Newcastle as well as City, according to the Sunday Express.
But strangely, it seems he might sign some sort of new deal to allow PSV to get a transfer fee for him before he seeks to move in January.
I think I'm right in saying that the player's contract runs out next summer and he seems to confirm that in some recent comments. But signing a new deal? Surely that may make it more difficult for clubs to offer the sort of wages he wants if they have to pay a transfer fee.
There is no doubt that this boy is a decent player with a good strike rate, especially when he has mostly played for PSV as an attacking midfielder but some of his comments to the press seem a little odd at times.
'It looks good, it expires in June,' Toivonen told Fotbollskanalen.se. 'We have had a meeting with the club and I told them how I feel. It was an open and honest talk. 'I want to find a new club. But PSV also want that I sign and help the club.
'The dream would be to move in January, then PSV also get money.'
Will the lure of Premier League football as well as linking up with a couple of his International team mates sway things City's way? Are we even still interested?
Who knows? But one thing is for sure the Ola Toivonen saga looks like it's reaching it's conclusion.
