'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alderweireld Says 'No' To City

Transfer target, Toby Alderweireld has said 'No' to a move to Norwich City after apparently failing to agree personal terms.

Speculation that the player thought the club were beneath him was scotched by his agent, Soren Lerby, who said:

'The problem was not that Norwich didn't fit Toby's ambitions, but we simply failed to agree terms,' Lerby told Algemeen Dagblad.

The player himself though, doesn't seem in a hurry to leave Amsterdam.

'There is still other interest and a transfer takes a long time,' Alderweireld told voetbal.nl. 'We're only in mid-July it can still be done. If a nice club comes, it can go fast.'

'If there is nothing, then I'll just stay at Ajax.'

So, at least he didn't think that we weren't good enough - it just looks like he wanted more money than David McNally thought he was worth.

No point paying over the odds, I expect the next target on the list will become clear soon.

Ambition needs to be tempered with good business sense. The very fact Norwich are showing both in abundance is the real news here. No sleep lost over this one (or Ola Toivonen) I would imagine.

Would have been nice though seeing him spray some balls out from the back.

I suspect from the point of view of both those pre mentioned players they were more interested in sending out come get me messages. I wonder too if that's not a ploy of hoppers camp??? Surely he would not leave champions league opportunities to become a chumpion flatpacker.
