Morison Back At Millwall

A rather strange one here with the news that former Norwich striker, Steve Morison has re-joined his old club, Millwall on a season long loan from Leeds.

29 year old Morison joined City from Millwall in the summer of 2011 after being chased as a main target by Paul Lambert. It was widely reported at the time that we were paying big money for Moro with a free of around 2.5m.

Morison previously made 83 appearances for The Lions and scored 35 goals. It was this form that persuaded Lambert to go for him.

In his first season at Carrow Road Morison started the season as a lone striker and netted 9 goals but ended up being replaced in the starting line up by Grant Holt who went on to show some extraordinary form, scoring against some of the biggest teams and finishing with a tally of 15 Premiership goals.

Big Steve struggled in the shadow of Holt and was compared to the City Captain on many an occasion. Because Holt's game is based on all action, never stop running energy, Morison was targetted by some sections of the crowd for a perceived lack of effort.

Chris Hughton then arrived at Norwich and clearly didn't fancy him, he only went on to score one more goal in the League Cup against Villa before leaving City in a swap deal plus a rumoured 200k cash for Leeds' Luciano Becchio in January 2013.

Leeds' manager at the time, Neil Warnock was chuffed to bits to get Moro, who made 15 appearances and scored 3 goals in The Championship before the season's end.

Due to the manager merry go round, Warnock is gone and Brian McDermott is now in charge at Elland Road and he also clearly doesn't fancy the look of big Steve.

Steve Lomas has wasted no time in arranging a season long loan for Morison at Millwall and it offers up the prospect of Moro playing with old team mate, Simeon Jackson who is one of Lomas' other targets.

All the best Steve.

If doubt if he will be well received judging by what they said when he left

I should point out in fairness to Moro that he did also score in the 2-5 league defeat to Liverpool last season. They say your brain blocks out traumatic events to protect you, hence I forgot...
