McFadden: 'Hughton Has Been Brilliant'

McFadden: 'Hughton Has Been Brilliant'

Kyle McFadden has been talking to the Irish Post about his life at Norwich and how Chris Hughton has been a big influence on the youth team.

"I love it at Norwich," said McFadden, who moved to England from Ireland as a 16-year-old - and has just been named FAI Under-16 player of the year. "I had quite a few options when I was younger.

"Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers and Burnley all wanted me and I trained with Aston Villa and Falkirk, but Norwich was the club I wanted to join.

"It reminded me of Donegal, the training ground is out in the countryside.

"My girlfriend, Ellie Greensitt is from Norwich and if I ever want to go home it isn`t an issue.

"Chris Hughton has been brilliant with me since he came in as manager. He has shown a lot more interest in the youth team than Paul Lambert did and I know I can always go to the manager about any problems I may be having or to ask where I need to improve my game.

"He is an Irish legend and as a Spurs fan I`m well aware what he achieved as a player. He has told me he doesn`t have another centre-back like me at the club and has said he thinks I could do a job as a defensive midfielder.'
McFadded added: "My target next season is to try and get on the bench or play in the League Cup for Norwich."

This is very honest and open from the young man and I find it very interesting that Lambert wasn't too interested in Youth Team matters and that Chris Hughton is completely the opposite.

Surely it's in a manager's interest to develop young players, isn't it? I think so anyway, and it reinforces my opinion of CH as a good manager. I know that plenty of people are not happy with his 'defensive' style but I reckon that we can't judge him until he's had a chance to bring in his own players this summer with all that extra finance from the new TV deal. But I'll write more on this on another occasion.

Well done Chris Hughton and keep it up Kyle!

we will see how good he s this season. I for one would like youth players getting into squad and playing in cup games.
