Lambert trusts Rudd to do the job

City boss Paul Lambert insists he has no problem playing young goalkeeper Declan Rudd in tomorrow's Premier League clash with West Brom.

With John Ruddy suspended for the game after receiving a red card against Chelsea a fortnight ago Lambert's goalkeeping options are limited.

Rudd played in the 4-0 Carling Cup defeat against MK Dons last month but some supporters were pushing for the 20-year-old to be given the number 1 jersey this season, and when asked if he will play Rudd against the Baggies Lambert told the EDP:

'I have to. But I've got no fear about him playing. He's never let me down, never let himself down, so I don't have any problem.

'I trust him. I trust every one of them to do a job.'

Lambert also confirmed that Jed Steer would not be recalled from his three-month loan.

'We spoke about it, but Jed's at Yeovil and doing really well for them,' he said. 'For his development he needs to play regular games.

'We've gone with the decision that John's only going to be out for one game.'
