Transfer Tales: Phillips, Lansbury, Cody, Campbell
Today's transfer speculation is skirting dangerously close to being believable. You have been warned...
You will have already read it elsewhere (or here) but Everton have apparently accepted a bid of £2.5m for James Vaughan, and Steve Morison has handed in a transfer request after Millwall turned down a second approach for him from the Canaries.
Birmingham have released veteran striker Kevin Phillips, 64, after his contract expired at St Andrews. Does he fit Lambert's 'hungry' category? Possibly not but he's still very, very good. And he's free.
DJ Campbell says he wants to leave Blackpool after their relegation after getting a taste for top-flight football (see what I did there?). He may have only joined the Seasiders last summer but has a buy-out clause of £1.25m which is interesting.
Zoltan Gera, who is Hungarian (oh yes) has turned down a final contract offer from Fulham so will become a free agent. Old club West Brom look favourites to sign though.
According to The Sun Henri Lansbury will be sold if he does not agree terms on a new contract by the start of the season. They say he wants certain reassurances before committing to the club long-term, so that could be one to keep an eye on.
The latest club linked with Cody McDonald is League One new-boys Sheffield United, who will be delivered to Yorkshire wearing a dickie-bow and clutching a suitcase full of cash to be exchanged for Ched Evans.
