'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What does the future hold for Simon Lappin?

With the Canary's proud promotion to the Premier League now confirmed, all eyes are understandably starting to focus on what happens next.

Inevitably this means that some of the heroes who fought so hard to book a place at the top-table of English football may not get the opportunity to prove themselves there.

A few are out of contract, some will get the chance to rub shoulders with Rooney and co, but several will be deemed surplus to requirements and will be plying their trade elsewhere.

So with that in mind (and not at all ripping off a series of articles on Vital Pompey) we decided to flick through the City squad to see who we think fits into each category...

League & Cup apps (as a sub): 22 (8)
Goals: 0

In much the same was as Korey Smith, the King of Spain had to settle for a place on the bench for the majority of the 2010/11 season despite being a regular in the League One title-winning campaign.

Lappin's versatility has probably hindered almost as much as it has helped his Norwich City career, but his hard work was rewarded in January when he signed a new contract to keep him at Carrow Road until 2013.

It'll be more of the same next year but I don't see him going anywhere and certainly hope that's the case.
