What does the future hold for Andrew Surman?

What does the future hold for Andrew Surman?

With the Canary's proud promotion to the Premier League now confirmed, all eyes are understandably starting to focus on what happens next.

Inevitably this means that some of the heroes who fought so hard to book a place at the top-table of English football may not get the opportunity to prove themselves there.

A few are out of contract, some will get the chance to rub shoulders with Rooney and co, but several will be deemed surplus to requirements and will be plying their trade elsewhere.

So with that in mind (and not at all ripping off a series of articles on Vital Pompey) we decided to flick through the City squad to see who we think fits into each category...

Andrew Surman
League & Cup apps (as a sub): 19 (3)
Goals: 3

After missing most of the first half of the season through injury Andrew Surman became an integral part of Paul Lambert's promotion-winning midfield.

His set-piece delivery caused chaos amongst Championship defences, and with two years left on his contract is unlikely to be heading anywhere anytime soon.

Surman should get the chance to have a crack at Premier League defences but may have battle on his hands to hold down a regular starting place if Lambert brings in a strong winger like Elliott Bennett.
