Cardiff missed out on a chance to reclaim second spot but managed to put QPR's promotion party on hold courtesy of a 2-2 draw at the Cardiff City Stadium yesterday.
Jay Bothroyd opened the scoring for the hosts with a spectacular effort from 20-yards, but Championship Player of the Year Adel Taarabt levelled for the leaders with his own impressive effort.
The Bluebirds re-took the lead through former Canary Craig Bellamy but Taarabt again equalised, this time with a smart finish from the edge of the box.
Swansea failed to put more pressure on Reading in fourth when they could only manage a goalless draw away to Portsmouth.
The game passed without too many incidents of note, but the Swans' chances of automatic promotion appear to be fading fast.
Burnley moved level on points with Nottingham Forest and Leeds after their 4-2 win at Derby, who will travel to Carrow Road tomorrow without Jamie Ward, banned for two matches for the red card received for a foul on Tyrone Mears.
